The impact of Skills Cards on the
Stone Sector
CSCS or the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme Card was set up to help the construction industry
improve quality and reduce accidents. Over 1.5 million people now possess one.
CSCS cards are increasingly demanded as proof of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients and others. They cover hundreds of occupations so whatever you do there will be a card that is suitable for you. Without doubt possession of a CSCS Card remains the best route to staying employed and working on site and, in turn, NVQ enrolment offers the best route to CSCS compliance.
StoneTrain offers Stone Federation GB members and others in the natural stone industry the best route to NVQ success!
Significant numbers of stone trade contractors are recognising the vital importance of their workforce holding a National Vocational Qualification. Operatives who complete their Level 2 NVQ gain an experienced worker CSCS Card experienced worker status. Additionally contractors are facing increasing demands from clients and architects that anyone in a supervisory role on site must hold the Level 3 NVQ in Occupational Work
Supervision.
As a Federation we fully support the CSCS Card Scheme and are in favour of initiatives that ensure the credibility of those working in construction. We also believe that StoneTrain offers the training solutions to CSCS compliance challenges.
In the case of StoneTrain’s Specialist Apprentice Programmes, the training cost can often be neutral to the employer. For experienced workers where qualifications are obtained via on-site assessment, grant monies are still obtainable from ConstructionSkills and StoneTrain are also best placed to know whether any additional funding can be drawn down too.
